An octic is the 8th division of a second. There may be some round-off errors, but not major.
Octics were introduced by ZDoom early in its development, before UDMF appeared, to work on some linedef specials whose arguments wouldn't fit in the 0-255 Hexen-format range if the times were expressed in tics, such as Door_CloseWaitOpen.
